70 Years of Advice Giving on Wirral
There has been a Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) presence in Wirral since 1939 when the Birkenhead and Wallasey Bureaux were opened to meet the needs of families affected by the war. Wallasey was founded on 2 September 1939 and Birkenhead was founded on 4 September 1939. In between these two dates war was declared.
Wirral Citizens Advice Bureau is a local charity registered with the Charity Commission and is also a company limited by guarantee registered at companies House. We operate independently and all client services are free and completely confidential.
The Bureau delivers the aims and principles of Citizens Advice Bureaux nationally by offering a comprehensive service of information, advice, advocacy and representation, and by working actively for change in the policies and practices of organisations that impact on the lives of our clients.
We receive funding from Wirral Council, the Legal Services Commission, the Primary Care Trust and various other sources and this enables us to undertake a range of activities on behalf of our diverse client group.

Our work with other organisations ensures that we are able to serve a large section of the public, offering help and advice when it is most needed.
